Flood forecasting is a very versatile and stand-alone monitoring system. The flood forecasting system is spread throughout the nation monitoring and transmitting the water levels of the rivers. Besides, water level detection the system monitors additional parameters like precipitation and temperature. The water level sensors include bubblers, float sensors, radars and pressure sensors. The measured values are transmitted through the communication module and are logged into the online web based server. The sensors are calibrated such that the sufficient increase in the water level triggers an alarming unit. Thus the system generates alerts through a SMS message, hence saving countless lives.
